Agenda for IMD 2016:
‘ Stop Male Suicide ‘

Objectives of International Men’s Day include a focus on men’s and boy’s health, improving gender relations, promoting gender equality, and highlighting positive male role models. It is an occasion for men to celebrate their achievements and contributions, in particular their contributions to community, family, marriage, and child care while highlighting the discrimination against them.

The theme for 2016 was Stop Male Suicide. In every country bar China where it is approximately equal the suicide rate is worse for men than women and averaged out on a country by country basis the rate of suicide for men is up to three times that of women. In Russia it is 6 men for every 1 women. Men’s health is worse than women’s in every part of the world. Recent World Health Organization (WHO) data shows that, globally, male life expectancy at birth in 2015 was 69 years; for females, it was 74 years. Children suffer when they lose a father or a grandfather prematurely. So let’s work together to turn the tide of male ill-health & suicide.
United Nations Universal Children’s Day was established in 1954 and is celebrated on November 20th each year to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide, and improving children’s welfare.

Mothers and fathers, teachers, nurses and doctors, government leaders and civil society activists, religious and community elders, corporate moguls and media professionals as well as young people and children themselves can play an important part in making Universal Children’s Day relevant for their societies, communities and nations.

Universal Children’s Day offers each of us an inspirational entry-point to advocate, promote and celebrate children’s rights, translating into dialogues and actions that will build a better world for Children.

2017: It’s a #KidsTakeOver

To celebrate this year’s Universal Children’s Day, UNICEF has invited children from around the world taking over key roles in media, politics, business, sport and entertainment to voice their support for millions of their peers who are unschooled, unprotected and uprooted on 20th November.

“From Auckland to Amman and from New York to N’Djamena, we want children to campaign in their schools and communities to help save children’s lives, fight for their rights and fulfil their potential,” said Justin Forsyth UNICEF Deputy Executive Director. “World Children’s Day will be a day for children, by children.”

It’s a fun day, with a serious message:

And to help give a voice to the millions of children whose voices remain unheard, high profile stars and world leaders are lending their support to the initiative, including:

  • UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador David Beckham will quiz children about their views of the world in a short film to be released for World Children’s Day.
  • French music group Kids United will release an empowering new music video recorded for UNICEF and World Children’s Day.
  • Global takeovers of government, sport and business, including legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, Spanish footballer and New York City FC captain David Villa, South Korean actor and national ambassador Ahn Sung-ki, and Lego Foundation and Qantas.
  • Logan actress Dafne Keen and Isabela Moner from ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ and Nickelodeon will join 150 children to take over United Nations Headquarters where singers, songwriters and musicians Chloe x Halle will debut a specially penned track to mark the day.

The deplorable state of men’s health internationally is obviously a contributing factor to the epidemic of Male Suicide across the world. This year Glen Poole the IMD coordinator for the UK has written a book called “Stop Male Suicide.” His solution can be summed up in the words LEARN +LOVE+LISTEN. Let’s use that as the motto for this year’s International Mens Day and lets all help stop male suicide. If we each applied this saying every day the world would become a better place.

Universal Children’s Day Edit

Universal Children’s Day takes place annually on 20 November.[5] First proclaimed by the United Kingdom in 1954, it was established to encourage all countries to institute a day, firstly to promote mutual exchange and understanding among children and secondly to initiate action to benefit and promote the welfare of the world’s children.
That is observed to promote the objectives outlined in the Charter and for the welfare of children. On 20 November 1959 the United Nations adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child.[6] The United Nations adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child on 20 November 1989 and can be found on the Council of Europe website.[7]
In 2000, the Millennium Development Goals outlined by world leaders in order to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS by 2015. Albeit this applies to all people, the main objective is with regard to children.[6] UNICEF is dedicated to meeting the six of eight goals that apply to the needs of children so that they are all entitled to basic rights written in the 1989 international human rights treaty.[8] UNICEF delivers vaccines, works with policymakers for good health care and education and works exclusively to help children and protect their rights.
In September 2012, the Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon of the United Nations led the initiative for the education of children.[9] He firstly wants every child to be able to attend school, a goal by 2015.[9] Secondly, to improve the skillset acquired in these schools.[9] Finally, implementing policies regarding education to promote peace, respect and environmental concern.[9]
Universal Children’s Day is not simply a day to celebrate children for who they are, but to bring awareness to children around the globe that have succumbed to violence in forms of abuse, exploitation and discrimination. Children are used as labourers in some countries, immersed in armed conflict, living on the streets, suffering by differences be it religion, minority issues, or disabilities.[10] Children feeling the effects of war can be displaced because of the armed conflict and/or suffer physical and psychological trauma.[11] The following violations are described in the term “children and armed conflict”: recruitment and child soldiers, killing/maiming of children, abduction of children, attacks on schools/hospitals and not allowing humanitarian access to children. Currently there are about 153 million children between the ages of 5 and 14 who are forced into child labour.[12] The International Labour Organization in 1999 adopted the Prohibition and Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour including slavery, child prostitution and child pornography.
A summary of the rights under the Convention on the Rights of the Child can be found on the UNICEF website.[13]
Canada co-chaired the World Summit for children in 1990 and in 2002 the United Nations reaffirmed the commitment to complete the agenda of the 1990 World Summit. This added to the UN Secretary-General’s report We the Children: End-of Decade review of the follow-up to the World Summit for Children.
The United Nations children’s agency released a study referencing the population increase of children will make up 90 per cent of the next billion people.

Let us support Gender Equality on INTERNATIONAL MEN DAY IMD today 19 Nov 2016.  All of us can contribute be it you are a Rightious women itself for yiur great Men or Mothers  for there Sons or Girls for their Boyfriends or Females for their male Father or Sisters for there Brothers but no way should we encourage misuse of laws or gender inequality in India or Anywhere in World even by females in our family. It’s a social cause on which no of Organisations are working in brotherhood and I am volunteering and a activisit for Men Rights and Child Rights .
India had most unfair laws and amendments are being made slowly now however still gender I equality exists and this social evil needs to be curved by authoritoes before it becomes a social stigma. Rather than 1000 -10,000 cases decades before many wicked wives are misusing laws and filing equal to 2,00,000 i.e. Lakhs rather than Thousands .. and aquital rate in majority or almost all of these cases is 99 percent. Means 99 percent cases are false allegations and serious punishments should be given to faulty.
Happy IMD International Men Day to all males in the World.

The Chennai Chapter of All India Men’s Welfare Association (AIMWA) submitted a memorandum to the government on IMD 2014 demanding constitution of Men’s Welfare Ministry, National Commission for Men, and making all laws gender neutral.

History
Calls for an International Men’s Day have been noted since at least the 1960s, when many men were reported to “have been agitating privately to make 23 Feb International Men’s Day, the equivalent of 8 March, which is International Women’s Day”[12] In the Soviet Union this day was The Red Army and Navy Day since 1922, which was later renamed Defender of the Fatherland Day. The date was informally viewed a male counterpart of Women’s Day (8 March) in some territories of the Union, however due to the day’s limited focus to historical events some countries of the former union have moved to adopt the more ‘male specific’ 19 November as International Men’s Day, including Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Russia and Georgia.[10]
In 1968 American Journalist John P. Harris wrote an editorial in the Salina Journal highlighting a lack of balance in the Soviet system, which promoted an International Women’s Day for the female workers without promoting a corresponding day for male workers. Harris stated that although he

INTERNATIONAL MEN’s DAY 20 November
The theme for 2017 is Celebrate Men and Boys.

We know that Men’s health is worse than women’s in almost every part of the world. Recent World Health Organization (WHO) data shows that, globally, male life expectancy at birth in 2015 was 69 years; for females, it was 74 years. Women on a worldwide basis live 5 years longer than men. We know that over 95% of work place fatalities are men and that 99% of combat deaths are men.

We also know that in almost all the countries of the world the suicide rate is worse for men  than women and averaged out, the rate of suicide for men is up to three times that of women. In Russia it is 6 men for every 1 women. Most people know that  men suffer unfair discrimination in family law in most countries of the world and in western nations  men and boys are dropping behind in school and university.

Having said all this we are asking you to Celebrate Men and Boys on the 19 November 2017. This year for International Mens Day we want to accentuate the positive but in the run up to this day of celebration we encourage you to organize a screening of the Red Pill to draw attention to the many issues that negatively impact on men and Boys.

Cassie Jaye the award winning director of the Red Pill movie is a brave young woman who has taken on the establishment single handily and told the truth about the discrimination men face. Go to Cassie Jayes website to find the best way to get a copy of this groundbreaking documentary.  http://www.TheRedPillMovie.com/

In India, Children’s Day is celebrated on 14 November, on the birthday of the first Prime Minister of independent India, who was fondly called Chacha Nehru (Uncle Nehru) or Chachaji (Uncle), and who emphasized the importance of giving love and affection to children, to give him tribute. After the death of Jawaharlal Nehru in 1964, it was unanimously decided to celebrate his birthday as Bal Diwas or Children’s Day in India.
